    This was my second stay.

This was my second stay. The location is wonderfully quiet, with open fields outside, yet very convenient for Colchester and beyond. Very friendly proprietor and the house, being 450 years old, is steeped in history. Some beams need to be ducked under - duck or grouse!

Lovely place, nice owner and surrounding area (quiet, peaceful, felt safe, countryside), comfy bed although pillows a little hard for my taste. Nice bathroom next to the room, parking, convenient for what we wanted, good value too. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate (top marks for that!) and a herbal tea as well supplied. Can recommend the New Pavilion 20 mins for dinner, drove there after arriving as the local pub is apparently not great. That was delicious and a great experience. Used the place as a base for exploring Mersea, Heybridge, Maldon and were not disappointed. Other than the shared bathroom we'd come back. I loved the bath, would have loved a long soak as it looked so nice but didn't want to avail in case others needed the bathroom which I hadn't considered before going.
