Great location and such a cosy little property. Handy fifteen minute walk into town yet very quiet area especially at night. Nice touches such as hosts leaving cookies, bread and milk in kitchen. Very happy with stay.

Damson Dene Hotel, hotel in Burneside

With open log fires and beautiful oak beams, Damson Dene Hotel features a luxury spa, beautiful landscaped gardens and a traditional restaurant. Windermere is just a 15-minute drive away.

We liked this place. It's 10 minutes' drive from Bowness. We checked-in online and receptionist gave us keys. We were given information about the spa area and the restaurant. The room vas better than in the pictures. It was quite spacious and clean. Our room 40 had a separate entrance. The bathroom was spotless. There were some toiletries and hair dryer. We had a bath and shower. Then we went to the restaurant. The dinner was tasty and the portions were large. We were chilling and relaxing outside as the weather was sunny and warm. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were fab. In the morning we had breakfast. Traditional English breakfast was good even better than other hotels provide. I'd like to admit that there was plenty of parking in the parking lot. What I liked most was the silence in the morning. Sounds of nature and clean air. Thank you very much for such a lovely weekend. By the way, our tour was: Bowness - boat to Ambleside - bus to Grasmere - hotel. The next day hotel - Bowness car ferry (7 pounds per car) - Beatrix Potter House (booked in advanced) - Castle - Ambleside - home.

Really nice. We booked a suite which was Ideal for our family with separate twin room for the children and large modern stylish bathroom. It's the second time we have stayed in the same suite and would really recommend it. We had a really good time there and would definitely use again if we are travelling to the area.

Burneside is really just a part of Kendal which isn’t a big town. It overlooks the central town area and has easy access to shops and restaurants, it’s very handy for the M&S and Booths foodhalls if you want to eat at home. There are a couple of nice parks, attractive little streets of quaint old buildings and it’s close to the 555 bus route which travels through a large area of the Lakes. It’s a short car journey or bus ride south to the stunning topiary gardens at Levens Hall, and heading north will take you to Windermere and Ambleside within half an hour. The views across the town to the distant fells are fantastic. The only potential downside for some could be that some of the roads and pathways are a little steep as you are basically on a hillside, so it could be challenging for those with mobility issues. We had a nice lunch in town at the Bristly Hog, where the staff are really friendly.
