The Dowans Hotel of Speyside, hotel in Knockando

Set high above the village of Charlestown of Aberlour and overlooking the River Spey, this elegant country hotel is an ideal venue for shooting and fishing, and for whiskey-lovers.

This was the most exceptional stay of our entire trip to Scotland. Luxurious stay with comfortable rooms. Quiet and relaxing. The dinner was fantastic and we sincerely appreciated how they run their dinner in multiple rooms starting with cocktails in the library. The staff was so accommodating as we needed to park early since we had an all day distillery tour. Breakfast was fantastic!

The Aberlour Hotel, hotel in Knockando

To edit: The mile long tree lined High Street has an attractive square and village green and located right in the center of the Village is the Aberlour Hotel.

What a surprising treat! This unassuming little hotel had touches that took it a step above the rest. Each room, we booked five, had a record player in it. There was a treat in each room as well, Walker biscuits, of course. The bathroom was large and well equipped with a very nice shower. We ate both dinner and breakfast in the hotel. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, and the service at the hotel breakfast was amazing. The kids ordered the pancakes and bacon, and I wish I had as well! Delicious! The buffet featured, fresh berries, such a rarity in most hotels. There is ample parking in the area. I would definitely recommend this hotel and return. Don’t miss out on walking the Speyside river walk across the way and visiting they original Walker shortbread shop, a few doors down

Cardhu Country House, hotel in Knockando

Welcome to Cardhu Country House which sits in the very heart of the Malt Whiskey Trail.

We loved the country location and house - it was quite convenient having a very nice whisky distillery just a five minute walk away 😊. Other distilleries, fishing spots, restaurants etc. were quite close by car. Breakfast was delicious (perfect eggs) and our hosts could not have been nicer and more helpful. Sorry, I thought I reviewed earlier but I guess it didn’t go through. Highly recommend.

The Station Hotel is located in Rothes and features a garden and a bar. This 4-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Glen Grant Whiskey Distillery is a 2-minute walk away.

The Station hotel was the best hotel on our Speyside Way. The rooms were very comfortable and dinner and breakfast of high standard. We especially liked the pairing of food and whisky on the menu. Overall an excellent experience that comes with a price.

Beautiful cottage and scenery was stunning. The cottage is perfectly situated for sightseeing and all the amazing distillery tours available in the area. Along the road is a 24hr farm shop which came in extremely helpful when we ran out of milk..such a clever idea. Definitely recommend visiting the area

Knockando is a small village surrounded by fields of crops and livestock. Views all around of rolling hills and woodland areas. The road through the village is fairly quiet with some tractors passing through. You’ll need a car to get around unless you are there for the walks! We will certainly return.
