The Marquis of Granby, hotel in Saint Margaretʼs at Cliffe

Striking and modern, The Marquis of Granby is a former village pub that offers contemporary dining and chic rooms, all amid beautiful Kent countryside near Dover, Folkestone, Canterbury and Ashford.

The location and all the food was superb. The car park was also a big plus as many locations have little access by car.

great location for a weekend break away from kids/job/...

great location for a weekend break away from kids/job/routine and time to take stock of life. We;d hoped to enjoy visiting the local beach and do some coastal walks ........ but the persistent horizontal rain put paid to that so fortunately we'd brought some sporty gear so could make good use of the gym. The property charges £10 for being shown the equipment in the gym ( compulsory ) which i did think a little cheeky but if it prevents time-wasting and meaning the gym is only being frequented by people actually wanting to use it then maybe its a good thing

Booked a room at the hotel , went to check in to find out we were double booked and no room at Hotel. was put in a caravan, a dirty caravan with so many spiders on the ceiling. Staff weren't helpful or apologetic at all. Facilities weren't nice restaurant had stains all over carpet. Not a good place to keep kids entertained. Really needs some money put into site.

We had to charge room in the middle of the night as there was a baby crying for 2 hours. I called the security manager (John) and he assisted us. He checked to see if there was any rooms available. We changed room and the service was amazing. I checked out late too.

The site is nice and the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The on site restaurant is ok although choice is limited for main meals. The first day no breakfast was available as the chef was sick. So we had to drive into Dover. It mucked up our schedule a bit but not the end of the world. Great location for exploring. The South Forland lighthouse is worth a visit. A little trek to get there from the road, but worth it. The main promenade of Dover is ok and also the same with Folkstone. Visit Samphire Hoe just between Dover and Folkstone. Beautiful scenery, the pebbly beech and the amazing cliffs right in front of you.

The staff I met were friendly and obliging, the room itself was classic travel lodge style, clean and well presented, and great value for money. We arrived after hours but the check-in by the friendly security team member was straightforward, once we found the hotel and where to check in. Food prices at the adjoining restaurant were reasonable and good value, should you want a breakfast or evening meal. A 15 minute drive to the Dover ferry port, so a handy stopover for anyone going to or returning from the continent.

Staff nice food ok place is overall quiet and clean hotel ok but very noisy children shouting but not really their fault as echoed along corridors. A lot of banging of door's park is very good as a lot of property is privately owned. Not a very good shop and don't sell papers at all also no arcade for children there is a small softplay and some sort of club for little ones swimming pool and gym but needs booking before you go the website says

The hotel is a part of a larger camping area with mobilhomes around. Surroundings are fine but nothing really special for a camping of this sort. Nice calm place in a village. The room was decent, of a decent size and clean, nothing bad to say. The restaurant serves decent English breakfast with variations and option at a reasonable price. The bar is a typical village pub with locals watching footbal at the evening.

Nice hotel, quiet and small. Staff friendly at reception, restaurant and bar too. Show was a bonus to see, could not watch all as up early for ferry. Food and drink choice was fab. Bed big and comfy, nice place for an overnight stay. We did not use the facilities but there is a pool on site. 😁

Easy and friendly check-in. Car park right outside hotel. Room spacious, clean and with kettle, small mini-fridge, etc. Window opened wide which helped air the room in hotter weather. Although we did not use it, swimming pool looked good. Bed was comfortable.

The hotel, being part of the holiday resort, is very close to the pool, bar and restaurant. The rooms were a decent size, we also got our request for interconnecting rooms which worked perfectly for our family of 4.
