This town is a bit over rated in my opinion.
This town is a bit over rated in my opinion. There is almost nothing there. The setting is nice, but we stayed in a town called Siglufjordur up north is much prettier and had a lot more to offer, so I would skip this one and head up there.

This is a great place to stay for a couple of days.
This is a great place to stay for a couple of days. The town is small but charming, and there a multiple day hikes close by. If you are doing the ring road, this might be a nice spot for two nights to rest up a bit. You might catch a glimpse of the Faroe Islands/Denmark Ferry that comes in once a week. Breakfast options are limited, however there is a little bakery in the supermarket that has wonderful fresh baked bread and goods.

This is a pleasant town in a strikingly beautiful location...
This is a pleasant town in a strikingly beautiful location between mountains and a fjord. Apart from the surrounding beauty, the town is tranquil (out of season) and very walkable. We understand that things heat up during the summer season. There are a handful of restaurants and a well-stocked supermarket. During working hours the town suffers from strong fishy odors coming from the local fish processing factory.
In short, it is a must-see stop on any tour of Iceland.

Seydisfjordur was a picture perfect village.
Seydisfjordur was a picture perfect village. We ate at two of the restaurants and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a local hike. And being fans of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" we enjoyed seeing the filming locations in this town.

A small town of the beaten path that is just lovely.
A small town of the beaten path that is just lovely. Our only problem is that we didn't have enough time to explore the town and surrounding area. We would have added a second night if we had the chance to do it again.
We decided to make the 20 minute drive off the road ring and stay here for one night and we weren’t disappointed. The drive was beautiful and the town is picturesque and charming. The property has one bedroom and bathroom downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs (one with a queen and one with two twin beds). The kitchen is simple but fills all basic needs. The laundry is shared and not a big washing machine but I was able to wash 8 items or so. Iceland is so beautiful. Enjoy!
This hotel, and the little town were the highlight of our trip. Even the key fob is stylish. The staff was super nice, the room was reminiscent of a Wes Anderson movie and the surrounding is stunning. In case you wonder, this is the same hotel featured in the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty right after he skateboards down a mountain road (which is the mountain road that leads to the town). Breakfast was excellent. I wish I spent more time.
The hostess, Kristin, was so lovely--warm and welcoming! These are the apartments that she grew up in with her family and grandparents so they are very dear to her. It was wonderful to be able to spread out after many nights in hotels. We were able to make dinner and do laundry. The bathroom and kitchen are nicely renovated. The beds were so comfy. I felt like I was staying at a friend's apartment. And Seyðisfjörður is so tranquil and charming.
Hotel Aldan is spreed in different buildings, practically half of the village. The village is beautiful, with colourful houses, a must in the trip to Iceland.
We were in the old school, very close to the church. the house was basically divided in two apartments, our was big and well equipped, two rooms, living room / kitchen and bathroom with washing machine and drier.
Oh my goodness the view. And the sound of waterfalls all around. What a beautiful setting, and a quick walk to Seyðisfjörður for groceries and dining. This is the one place we stayed in Iceland that makes us want to return and stay a month! It was also nice to have a grill.
clean and simple guesthouse, friendly staff, kitchen facilities with coffee machine that everyone loved. have laundry facilities which helped us tremendously at this point in our ring road trip. expensive but all of Iceland is expensive during the summer when we traveled.
The best place to stay in Seydisfjordur. the former bank building converted to hotel had brought feeling of good old times with all that smell, style, furniture, and the rest. The room was of a smaller size but manageable if you stay one night.
We couldn’t have been happier with the appartment. It was super clean, spacious and the beds were very comfy. Tota the host made sure we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed. Absolutely the best place to stay in Seyðisfjörður.
The Old School was spacious with a dedicated living room and kitchen/dining. The washer/dryer was a nice bonus so that we could do laundry at the halfway point of our Ring Road journey. We also enjoyed the Hotel Aldan cafe/restaurant.
The apartment is very cozy and the studio had been prepared in a stylish manner. The house is near a beautiful waterfall with an hiking path nearby. Room is clean and the heater in the bathroom make it very comfortable.
Village and way too the village is a must see. The hostel has a lot of charm. Even a sauna in the basement. Some good restaurants in town, el grillo cafe en the hotel beside it has great breakfast.
Very good location, excellent and very comfortable place.
The welcome chocolate from the house owner was a very nice gift . If I come back to Iceland I will definitely visit this place again.
This guesthouse was my best stay during the trip. Amazing location, view, amenities and layout. It was a beautiful room. It was better than the fancier/pricier hotels that I stayed in.
The room is exceptionally clean and comfortable, the location is amazing! We stayed in for a night with our 2 kids. The hotel has a shared kitchen so we could make a meal for our kids
The guest house itself is amazing - we had a balcony room with a view across the inlet, which was beautiful. The beds were comfortable, the shower was the best we've had in Iceland.
The staff was very kind and nice. There is a shared kitchen I could use, good feature. It is not like hotel, but like one room in a flat house with more than few rooms.
Room was very good. Beds are so comfortable.
Kitchen in the room is also good with all required utensils.
Apartment location in Seyðisfjörður is very good
