A beautiful, sleepy town with a Venice-like atmosphere.
A beautiful, sleepy town with a Venice-like atmosphere. There are canals and lovely bridges in the city centre. The largest bridge, Trepponti, was absolutely stunning.
The centre is best explored by foot. There are restaurants and bars everywhere, mostly with outdoor sitting, sometimes directly on the canals. We were there in the evening and it felt magical.

Charming town with very interesting sites.
Charming town with very interesting sites. A wonderful museum with archeological finds, including among others, roman articles found in a sunken ship. The city center reminded me of Venice at a smaller scale because of the canals an bridges, perfect for a great walk. Great food too!

The town is steeped in Italian History and culture with a predominantly Fishing based economy. Comacchio prides itself as one of the preeminent Eel fishing spots in the world, not that I am a particular fan of Eels but I do like them BBQ'd from time to time.
There is also a fishing port nearby (Port Garibaldi) and it was fun seeing the boats coming in from a night of fishing and selling their catch.

Lovely place which had a busking festival on when we were there. Restaurants can be a bit pricey but there are cheaper take away options in neighbouring towns. The town itself is cute with lovely bricked bridges and canals.
Comacchio an interesting place to be. This was meant for our stopover between Puglia and Venice. I have to admit the town is charming and the accommodation is perfect. The host is extremely friendly and even offered restaurants tips for our dinner and also our meals in Venice. As we arrived late in Comacchio having driven 700+km from Puglia, did not have chance to enjoy the accommodation but all the facilities inside is modern and extremely cleaned. Breakfast was one of the best we have had in the whole of 20 days trip.
Marziano is great and recommended some excellent places and restaurants to visit. Very funny, thoughtful and attentive.
A different part of Italy, where you can see flamingoes on the lakes.
Our apartment was spacious, spotlessly clean, and breakfast is provided for you to have at whatever time suits you,!
Take advantage of the bicycles also offered free of charge - I hadn't ridden one for years, and it's really flat around the Po Delta!
Comacchio and Ravenna are well worth visiting and are easy to get to.
You’ll find no better host than Sara, who will take all the time needed to ensure you know what to do and where to go to make the most of your trip to Comacchio and Po Delta park. The guest house was meticulously restored recently and it shows in every detail. Sara comes from Milan, and her style is Milan-level. Breakfast is fun - especially when she hangs out to chat a little. What a joy this place was.
Being right in the center of Comacchio was a great way to (quickly) get a feel for the town. It has a very special rythym and we heard/felt/saw it from the first hour we were there. The apartment was spacious, private and the kitchen was adequately equipt. After touring and walking in the area all day, we were glad to return to hot showers and home cooking. Alberto, the host was very kind and prompt.
Agreeable "family house" nearby is old part of Comacchio (Treponti) with restaurants and supermarket Coop.
Spacious common living roam, free café, common fridge, kitchen more likely for preparation of sweet breakfast in the price, salted with +5E/person (no needed). Parking on the quiet street without probleme.
Our room was spacious and I believe it was the only one with a balcony looking right onto the canal. Instructions to reach the hotel were fine. Staff made a special arrangement for us to leave & pick up our baggage after checkout, when all staff were away so we could take a bike ride..
Breakfast fairly rudimentary. Hotel has recently been extensively refurbished, though this process isn't by any means complete. No curtains in bedroom, door to room would only close properly if locked from outside (!), light switches hard to operate, no towel holders in bathroom, etc.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Our reason for the stop in Comacchio was to see some of the birds in the Po Delta area. Riccardo was so helpful and is fully invested in sharing the uniqueness of this part of Italy. Boscoforte is well worth the visit.
Location, friendly, helpful, very clean, yummy breakfast and very responsive to emails! The owner Riccardo has a wonderful informative excursion of the history of the salt beds, flamingos and of Comacchio, which is excellent, don’t miss it.
The apartment was great, check-in perfect and timely, there was room to store our 2 bicycles inside the apartment at night and could lock them outside on the porch during the day. We loved Comacchio.
