This was a great accommodation, I would highly recommend it. Excellent location, very very clean, quiet at night. spacious showers with plenty of hot water, comfortable beds. breakfast was abundant, a very good value for the money. but the best thing is the personnel. Everybody was incredibly kind, warm and professional, always with a smile. they made restaurant reservations for us and gave us great recommendations for food and things to do. When my husband got sick during our stay they helped in any way possible, gave us food in the middle of the night, offered to help with going to the pharmacy, checked on us and provided a very caring environment. We have traveled a lot, and this is by far the most welcoming hotel we have ever visited, we have been truly impressed! I am looking forward to visit them again soon.

Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel & SPA - BW Premier Collection, hotel in Trapani

Conveniently located in the center of Trapani, Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel & SPA - BW Premier Collection provides air-conditioned rooms, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi and a shared lounge.

The hotel was well situated and very clean. The room as well as the bathroom are a nice size and well decorated. The breakfast is good - it's in buffet form it has all you would need to be happy. They serve fresh orange, which is a very nice touch. There is an open roofed breakfast space as well a breakfast room. The people serving are very nice. If you arrive by car, you can drive up to the hotel to leave your suitcase and then find parking - which we did not find difficult. The communication through WhatsApp is very seamless with the hotel team.

FAQ about homestays in Trapani

Seasoned with Life

Kite-shaped Trapani makes an impressive sight from lofty Mount Erice, connected to the peninsula below by cable car. On a clear day, the mountain also offers views of Tunisia - one destination of ferries from Trapani Port, alongside Cagliari, Pantelleria and the offshore Egadi Islands.

Overlooking the port is the old town, where arched doorways on narrow streets open onto many cheap apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com. Shabby chic façades sit alongside historic churches, such as understated Trapani Cathedral, somewhat lost amid elegant Corso Vittorio Emanuele, where pavement cafes sit in front of pastel-coloured buildings and metal balconies.

At the tip of the peninsula is the fortress-like Tower of Ligny lighthouse, now housing the Prehistory and Sea Museum. The Colombaia Castle protects the port from an island to the south, while in the other direction the sweeping coastline passes some beachfront hotels with swimming pools.

Villa Margherita Park offers shade from the Mediterranean sun, and Triton’s Fountain graces a neighbouring square. The simple façade of the Basilica of Maria Santissima Annunziata hides the treasures within, including a statue of the Madonna of Trapani which is at the heart of the Easter ‘Misteri’ celebrations.

Between the city and Trapani-Birgi Airport, historic windmills sit beside salt pans. The Salt Museum provides details of this major industry.

Perfect town for a short break or for a beach holiday, the town is in between a harbor and the beach. The city centre is vibrant, lots of restaurants and bars. Trapani is lovely town nicely laid out with good public transport - although beware as the busses stop running by about 21:30 in the evening and none on a Sunday. A good selection of shops for those wanting to indulge. The old town is stunning and a must to visit both during the day and particularly in the evening when it totally comes alive with an abundance of restaurants to suit every taste and pocket.

Surprisingly quaint with lots to do.

Surprisingly quaint with lots to do. Great sandy beaches, lots of shops and amazing restaurants and bars in the old town. Also provides easy access to lots of other places to explore like Erice via cable car, Egadi Islands by ferry and Marsala, Castellemare del Golfo by train and Palermo by bus. It wasn't overly touristy either and got a really nice, more authentic experience here compared to some of the other cities in Sicily. Highly recommend! 3-4 days would be perfect

Giorgio is a great host. Very welcoming and took care of check in and out easily. The flat is located next to a wonderful beach, gorgeous sunsets just a few minutes driving from center Trapani. There's a private parking lot, and the flat is well equipped to visit the beach (including umbrella and beach beds!). Wifi was one of the best during our Sicilian trip, so it's definitely passable as work wifi if you need it.

The hosts are extremely hospitable, picked us up from the bus and delivered us to the apartment. The hosts speak perfect English, the apartment is modern and was immmaculately clean. The location is fantastic with amazing views and close to a small supermarket, good fruit shop and a great cafe right outside. We have rented 4 properties through France and this one in Sicily has by far been the best. 11 out of 10!

The owner was lovely and really helpful. The space is fantastic and in a great location (close to the port but equally the city centre). Really useful to have a washing machine and free parking right in front of the building. King sized bed and lovely memory foam pillows. The owner recommended we eat at santa chiara 19 which was just around the corner and it was the best pesto pasta we've had in Italy!

We had a great stay at Ai Lumi! The hotel was very communicative ahead of time and helped us figure out parking in the city, and check in was very smooth. The room was spacious and had nice touches, and we took advantage of the 15% discount in the attached restaurant where we had an excellent dinner and a great breakfast (included) before heading out the next day.

The B&B is very well located, right in the middle of the main street of the historic center in Trapani. Maria was extremely nice to me, gave me tips about the ferry to the islands and even landed me a parasol for the beach. The shared bathrooms were always clean and there were useful things like liquid soap and paper tissues. I would recommend for a short stay.

This was our best stay in all of Sicily. The rooms are beautiful and very well maintained. The host Sandra was very friendly and helpful to give us some advice on where to go. We stayed a total of three nights. Breakfast was great. It came in a buffet but very fresh and with a different extra dish (eggs, pancakes) over the days. Would recommend it!
