The breakfast was good with many choices. The location was excellent as we were able to look up and see the name of the hotel as soon as we exited the Morioka Station. (If you ask for directions from any of the agents, pronounce the name of the hotel as Richimondo and not Richmond.).

Dormy Inn was a great find! The rooftop spa facilities were nicer than I expected, with indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, and a cold plunge. The breakfast was really nice, with local ingredients and dishes mixed in. Overall a great value, would absolutely recommend and stay there again.

Staff was very friendly during check in and they even spoke English, which was very helpful. They let me park on-site, which cost 900yen. If their lot is full, there is a paid parking lot on the corner available too. The single room was very spacious, clean and modern. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walking from the castle site and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as konbini across the road. Morioka is a wonderful city and I am glad I stayed here!

We stopped in Morioka on the way to Niseko. It is a small Japanese city with stunning views of Mt Iwate. Our main purpose was to visit friends, so we didn't do much touring, but Morioka is a lovely smaller city, very walkable, with an active city centre of restaurants and many interesting temples. It almost feels like a mini Kyoto while driving around. We enjoyed Wanko Soba, which is famous in Morioka.

I go to Morioka every month or two, while it's a city it doesn't have the crowded or bustling feel. You're also close to nature. The botanical gardens and lake are a short drive as well as Mt. Iwate for climbing. Morioka is also a go-to for Wanko Soba. I've never had a bad meal in Morioka. Overall, Morioka is a good vertical slice of Tohoku and different from the image of Tokyo that saturates people's view of Japan.

We did not spend day time at the city only night time.
We did not spend day time at the city only night time. We were at the ski resort during the day and Morioka is well located to visit the nearby ski resort. Love the drive from Morioka to the country side. People in the restaurant were friendly although very little English was spoken. It feels very authentic for tourists as it is a very down to earth city.

The Castle park and the small river flowing next to the park was really nice. Also the temple district at the north was worth to a visit. Dendenmushi circling the town is convient to visit all city attractions. One day pass is quite economical to be used. The city can also be seen by walking for people with enough time.
I had one day in Morioka with an additional side trip to Hiraizumi. I think the time was sufficient. For people that may eant to enjoy more the downtown area and shopping an additional one day could be useful.
I wish I had more time to try the soba noodles of Morioka.

Morioka is a very nice city with several interesting sights, which can be easily reached on foot. I also loved the 3 local noodle dishes.
It is also a good place as a base for side trips, e.g. to lake Tazawa.

It’s a good transport hub for other tourist sites in the area. Not much to do in and of itself, but a good place to sleep, get some good food, and karaoke a bit before driving out to Hiraizumi or Jodogahama.
I've been to three different Daiwa Roynet hotels in the past week and each was better than the last. Maybe I just got better and better rooms, but I don't know that for sure.
This one was close to the station, had a great view of a river, and was near stores. The bathroom wasn't the unit bath I was expecting but had a glassed in bath/shower area with a rain shower that I didn't notice until I accidentally turned it on. It's a very new facility and I found the staff here to be very friendly.
Hotel opened around the time the COVID crisis started. Due to low accupancy during that period, the rooms are still in pristine, almost untouched condition. Of course the roofftop onsen with rotenburo as signature feature of this hotel chain, is a massive selling point and puts any hotel stay on another level. Breakfast buffet is inexpensive and real good! Restaurants and shopping within walking distance. I will definitely stay again on any future trip to Morioka.
Staff were wonderful and extremely helpful in helping getting my luggage forwarded onto another hotel. The room was fairly spacious for a solo traveller, and the amenities bar in the lobby was well stocked. Plenty wash and tumledryers too. Bed was a little hard for my tastes but still perfectly reasonable for sleeping. Location is about a 20minute walk from Morioka station but located centrally for many dining establishments and morioka sights
Comfortable and quiet room which is actually pretty large for a Japanese hotel.
Close to all the main shopping and food areas and about a 25 minute walk from the station but was a nice walk.
Japanese breakfast each morning was also great with a variety of little foods to try out.
There is a Lawsons right across the road from the entrance.
Staff were friendly and helpful on checkin and spoke English.
The hotel is so close to the train station, saving us a lot of time travelling around. Breakfast was delicious with a lot of choices to select from. Our room is comfy and quiet, we had good nights of sleep and rest after a long day discovering the surrounding area. Many great restaurants and bars nearby. The public bath is a bonus as well. Staffs are very polite and helpful.
Richmond Hotel was a two-minute walk from the train station, so very convenient. The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and of adequate size. The price was higher than other hotels we stayed in in northern Japan -- this may have had more to do with timing and supply/demand but I would check price against others in the area before booking.
Morioka is a nice, quiet city and Tototo is in a lovely peaceful neighborhood. Dela-san, the owner is very friendly and helpful with information about the area. The Sunday dinner and Monday morning walk were both among some of my favorite highlights of my trip to Japan so far.
Overall, it was better than expected. I was not expecting much because of not so good reviews but we had a comfortable stay. Our room was next to the reception but we did not have any issues with the noise. The hotel is also located close to the station and restaurants.
Great place with several restaurants and services on site. Attractions are walkable from the location. Laundry on site. Very friendly & helpful staff. Very clean. Public bath on site at no cost for hotel guests. We would definitely stay here again.
This is a wonderful hotel that manages to mix a relaxed atmosphere with a classy experience. Wonderful staff who were very welcoming and helpful. Perfectly clean, and good facilities. It was also right next to the main train and bus stations.
- Great Location that is close to Morioka Station.
- The restaurant provide breakfast that is great to start the day
- The walk to the hotel from the station can be done using a direct connection between Morioka station west Exist passage
The bed is comfortable even for two people. The hotel is not far from north exit of Morioka station. It's quite difficult to find at the first time but there is tourist information box at the north exit that can help you everything.
Superb location (JR station), spoilt for food choices at Fesan which is linked to the hotel. Next to bus interchange too where you can take Den Den Mushi loop bus around all the attractions. Just grab the day pass for it.
Very close to the station, staff were very knowledgeable, managed to tell us about places to visit that we couldn't find on the internet. Surprisingly nice hotel for such a relatively small town
