Icy Falls - Ohiya, hotel in Ohiya

Located in Ohiya, 24 miles from Gregory Lake, Icy Falls - Ohiya has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Prakash and other staff members were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They took care of us very well. What is even more impressive was the food made by Chef Prakash. We are originally from Sri Lanka, and we have had plenty of Sri Lankan food, including home cooked food. But the Rice and curries dinner we had here was unique and the best we ever had. We had a great mountain view from the room and balcony, and were able to enjoy the Sunrise directly from the room.

Hill Safari - Tea Estate Villa, hotel in Ohiya

Located in Ohiya, surrounded by mountains in the Horton Plains Range, Hill Safari - Tea Estate Villa mainly serves Sri Lankan cuisine.

We had an excellent stay at Hill Safari. Hosts Eomal and his wife and staff Nuwan are very kind, friendly, and helpful. The location is an excellent place for Horton Plains and many other hiking trails. Also, the views around the property are excellent - tea plantations, farms, mountains, and long distance views as well. Eomal, who has lived there over 40 years, is very knowledgeable about the area and all the hiking opportunities. Home cooked dinner and lunch were very tasty. He arranged our travel logistics to the Horton Plains and to the Train station.

The room also has a very clean bathroom with comfortable beds. The environment is very quiet. It's a very beautiful small village surrounded by a forest. The food is very tasty and refreshing . Hope to go there again . Much love that place .

    Almost everything.

Almost everything. Location was close to Horton Plains and the owners arranged a tuk tuk ride for a nominal fee. Lovely surrounding. Food was tasty and ample given. Really worth it. Owners were friendly and made the guests feel at home.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go. Horton Plains are absolutely gorgeous, but even the unusual forests around Ohiya, birds, other animals and all the plants (especially flowers and coniferous species) are worth to see. We loved the mysterious weather, hot mornings, misty afternoons or evenings, and beautiful nights with distant thunderstorms. This place is fabulous and we wish to come back again. Best restaurant for us was staying at Muthu Nisindi in Forest Cyniciam Holiday Bungalow. And her husband Mahinda took care of us with his tuk-tuk, being always on time, always prepared to stop to show us an an animal or answer question or wish. We definitely recommend animal watching around the village, walks in forest, eating all the food you can and going to Horton Plains at least for two days to hike through all the paths available, we managed to do just 2 hikes and will come back once to see the rest.

The location within the tea plantations is perfect with a breathtaking view down to the plains. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is great. Rooms are spacious and very clean with a wonderful view from the bed. The owners organise a Tuk-Tuk for a whole day for a reasonable price. We started our trip to Horton Plains very early (5:45) and were provided with breakfast boxes. The owner takes ecology protection seriously, no plastic bottles or plastic bags are being provided.

What a warm and friendly welcome we had at this lovely home stay. It really did feel like being welcomed in to a family home. Nothing was too much trouble as they were both incredibly kind and thoughtful hosts. The meals ( dinner and breakfast) were delicious. The rooms were cosy and warm at night despite being do high up in the mountains. A very convenient location for exploring the Horton Plains. Lovely to meet the cats and to see the flowers in the garden.

The family who runs the homestay is the friendliest there can be. They helped us with tips from the tuk tuk to making plans for Hortons Plains. They prepared us a breakfast package so we could go very early to Hortons Plains. They prepared a lovely dinner which was very tasty(we had fried rice with vegetable side). We were grateful to find such a nice family in Sri Lanka

The hotel is quite new and partially still under construction. The rooms are very big and they provide all the comforts needed. The hotel also have a restaurant where it is possible to have something to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Finally the area around the restaurant is super quiet and it's super easy to get deep in to the surrounding nature.

The host was very helpful in giving advice on exploring the area. The vibe in the evenings is a great experience - they have a local party where the locals play a steel drum and sing Sri Lankan songs. The location is conveniently situated for access to Horton Plains and the nearby Devil's Staircase.

A good memory from the Ohiya. Even though it was raining both days of our stay and we could not visit the hiking trails in this area, the unique view of the hotel and kind staff made us have a good time. And there is good point for this hotel; it's near to train station
