Lovely owners, upgraded us as we took an unexpected guest. Heating etc worked and the whole unit met what we needed for a 3 night stay. Highly recommend

Some really good coastal walks set up by DOC. Some great board walks and coastal walks of various lengths. Peaceful area with most tourists not taking advantage of the walks and stopping in car parks for a quick look only. Warning: don't go off road near beachs. We towed someone out of the sand!

Haast is a definite stop and you must visit Jackson's Bay. Although itis a long way from Haast its a lovely drive and an interesting place when you get there. Make sure you take insect repellant as it is a MUST.
We ate at the hotel restaurant. Good selection of mains.
Lots of walks.

Haast requires some commitment to not just blast through to Wanaka or the glaciers. The visitors centre and the boardwalk (on way to Jackson Bay) are both worth an hour of your time. Plus all the points on the map just before and after Knights Point, Ship creek walks x2, waterfalls. An overnight stay is recommended to have two brilliant travel days.
Take snacks and a flask though, it's remote and you may not find something open when you are hungry. And sandfly repellent, and long clothes!

We only stayed in Haast for 2 nights as a stopover between Queenstown and Franz Josef. Although there is not a lot to do apart from various walks and some fishing we did do a day trip down to Jackson Bay. A lovely little village on the edge of the ocean and they have a great seafood restaurant.

Jackson's Bay was probably beautiful in the sun, it was pouring down whilst we were there!! There is nothing to see at Haast- The beach isOK but there are the awful black bitingfies in their droves, other than that it is just a place to break a journey if necessary.

Haast is a nice remote location close to the seashore and national park. When travelling there are the facilities that you would need, but limited in choices. There is a Pub and Cafe where you can eat, but beware of their hours of operation. Wifi and cell service seeks to be restrictive in the region should you be needing it.
Easy check in. It has a nice garden right in the middle of the building that was a nice feature to see as you walk between your room and the bathroom. Multiple showers and toilets available as we as a kitchen and common area in garden. Lots of parking available. Beautiful area near beach and mountains. Beds were very comfortable and didn't have too many people per room like many other places.
There were two of us traveling and loved that there was an actual bedroom for one of us while the other could take the bed in the main room. A huge hit was the washer/dryer in the room. It was about 6 miles(or was it kilometers?) south of Haast but worth it for price and space and being able to go the laundry without leaving the room.
Excellent location. We arrived very late and the hotel manager was kind enough to leave the lights on for us and the key was in the door.
Honestly the best place to stay. Excellent facilities and so clean and tidy. Highly recommend and will always use Bay Road Motel as my base when visiting Haast. Thank you to management.
The motel is an ideal place to break your journey between the fjord lands and the glaciers. The room was a good size and spotless with good facilities. Susie was particularly friendly and helpful and made our stay comfortable. Good food and drinks at the nearby Hard Antler pub/ restaurant if you wish to eat out
Lovely quiet hotel with a easy walk across to the beach and those little wee extras were terrific especially the jet planes. I especially liked that they gave you a wee bottle of milk for tea rather than those landfill pottles some other motels use, well done.
Good room with comfortable beds, a separate bathroom and a small kitchenette with fridge, toaster, cutlery etc. Shower had good pressure. Parking right outside the room. Haast River Motels are slightly out of Haast township, but only a minute away in the car.
Aspire Motel, Haast offers very nice accommodation. The rooms are very well equipped and comfortable. I had a view to hills from my room and was able to park the car outside. The bathroom and kitchen are also lovely. The WiFi offered good signal strength.
Was upgraded to a queen bedroom by pleasant staff at this backpackers and motel. The bed was comfortable for a quiet night's stay. Quirky internal garden common area. Grocery takeaway behind the facilities. Good parking available.
Hotel is across the street and a short walk from the beach, where we saw a great sunset. The location is a bit remote (which we liked), but there is a restaurant a short distance away.
Haast is an absolutely beautiful part of New Zealand and the location of the hotel suited us really well.
The hotel was fine, pretty basic but comfortable. The shower was great.
