We were upgraded to a 1 bed unit with a King sized bed + Single with a full kitchen with plenty of equipment. The sofa was comfy and the shower had plenty of power and hot water. A big bonus was being allowed our dogs in the room, especially when torrential rain and gales arrived. A little too far to walk to the city or Queen's Park but 5 min walk to a 4Square and a BP garage for fuel and basic groceries. Drive via Tweed Street to avoid town traffic and the numerous t.lights!

Invercargill gets a bad rap for being a cold city at the bottom of the South Island, but there's plenty to do and see, rain or shine, and there's nothing wrong with bad weather - just bad clothing! haha!
Queen's Gardens has a great playground, is dog friendly and has a small animal park, where a new Tuatara enclosure will open. The Classic Motorcycle Museum and Transport museum are also my favourites, and within 30 minutes you can be walking on soft sandy beaches, exploring old forests, or travelling to Stewart Island!

Invercargill is a great place to visit, plenty to do and see in the area.
Queens park is a must to walk through and around - a really beautiful park
Oreti beach is awesome as you can drive your car along part of it - not many beaches where you can do that!
Riverton & Bluff aren't too far away to travel to while you are in Invercargill - they are definately worth the visit
Bill Richardson Transport world is a cool place to visit as well, with a huge range of olden day vehicles to see.

Great auto museum and seeing Burt Munro’s bike at E Hayes Hardware. Also a trip out to Ōreti beach where he practised racing his bike and then onto Bluff and then Riverton, Colac Bay, Cosy Nook etc and onward to Gemstone beach was well worthwhile. These are all things you can do regardless of the weather.

Unfortunately the visitors centre was closed in 2020, so there was no information about what to see and how to achieve this. We were recommended to visit Stewart Island, apparently being the main attraction. You needed to book online but there was no information
about the trip. At a cost of $200 each, rather expensive. Drove to Bluff to find out for ourselves, 30 kms but even less information. Very disappointing. Not much in the way of restaurants unless you are in to Asian food. One shopping centre, not much in it.

Nice flat walking, the new mall has all the usual shops plus some additional surprises. Shopping is great, streets very clean, Queens Park is lovely and well cared for and there is a lot of city centre development going on with improvements for locals and visitors alike. Amigos restaurant if you like chili and Mexican food is worth a try.

Great city on the up.
Great city on the up. Good selection of eateries and things to do and see. Most attractions are fairly close to the centre, and the airport is 5 minutes from there. I can happily recommend Invercargill for a visit.
Jon and Jan are the most friendly people that I ever met. Our car broke down and we were stuck in Invercargill.
Jon and Jan helped us with giving us advice, giving us a room for a lower price, supported us, ...
Their rental car service was a big bless for us, cheap and the car was excellent.
The rooms are big and clean. The location is perfect!
Jon and Jan we love you guys!
Pretty good staff was welcoming and accommodating with breakfast and towels and parking space... it felt like staying in a low budget AirBnB - in a good way :)
It would be much better if the rooms were deep cleaned at least once a month and bathroom were deep cleaned once a week - at the very least once a forthnight.
The room size is good for family even I have 2 big boys.
The room also has cooking facility for us to make breakfast even dinner.
The location is really good and the supermarket just a walking distance.
I am highly recommend if you stay in Invercargill.
Nice up-dated units which were quite comfortable. Reasonable charges, rooms were serviced well daily. Good sized wardrobe and lovely to see a hand towel provided for the kitchen as well as the bathroom! Something that a lot of motels neglect to do!
The apartments have all what you need and they are spotless. The staff at the reception (young Philipino lady, I'm sorry I forgot the name) is exceptional and really accommodating. We will definitely stay again if we need to go to Invercargill.
Beiing In the Center of the City Center.
Very impressed how they did the old Post Office up with out knocking it down!
So close to the new Mall, bars and coffee shops. Its a different Invercargill that I once knew.
Will stay again!
Centrally located in Invercargill, walking distance to Botanic Gardens and most facilities.. Room large with very modern facilities. Breakfast of very high standard and offering huge choice.
Parking provided 2 minutes from Hotel.
We have stayed several times before and have always thoroughly enjoyed each visit staying [n a most clean. spacious home.
Having off street parking is a great asset. Will be back for sure next time when we are in Invercargill.
Old style but superbly maintained and absolutely spotless....a breath of fresh air for us having travelled down the country staying at a range of hotels and motels that were sub-standard, this was 120%. Well done!
Merlyn is amazing and she keeps her lovely backpackers place immaculate. the photos don’t do it Justice. Clean, generous host, beautiful place, great location. absolutely loved my stay.
Balmoral far exceeded my expectations the photos were exact to what I booked but the apartment was much bigger in person I was very happy and will be booking again when in Invercargill.
A great self contained cabin situated on a rural property just out of Invercargill. Really enjoyed our stay in this quiet and peaceful location. Well equipped and very comfortable.
Beautiful setting on a deer farm, easy access to Invercargill. Very comfortable room. Anne-Marie and John were very welcoming and helpful with ideas to make the most of our visit.
