Betica Hotel Rural, hotel in Moura

Set in a whitewashed country house in the quiet village of Pias, this small charming hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool and free bicycles. Barragem de Enxoé Reservoir is just 5 minutes’ drive away....

The proprietor was one of the most welcoming I have encountered in my 80,000km bicycle ride around the world. Greeting us with “Bring the bicycles inside and store them securely on the patio.” Music to a cyclist’s ears! And very friendly and pointing us to the “best restaurant within 100 kilometers.” True! And, conveniently, 100 meters from the hotel. The hotel was charming and super clean and super comfortable. Great beds, a lovely deck overlooking the city (and the finest restaurant for 100kilometers). A really great stay for a weary cyclist—-obrigado! Michael Himes

Herdade Do Sobroso Wine & Luxury Boutique Hotel, hotel in Moura

Located between Alqueva and Pedrógão, municipality of Vidigueira in Alentejo, and 5.6 mi from the Alqueva dam, this charming country house offers air-conditioned rooms with cable TV.

I have the habit of reading several reviews in order to make my decision to book a place. I was puzzled by the reviews, but our main goal was to visit a VINEYARD!! That said, I began to judge the place by their vineyards. It is immaculate, and I could see how well they look after their plants. The passion and the high standard for the final product was evident. The flowers and the vegetables garden is well kept. There is plenty of attention to details not only inside our room, but on the entire property, not just where guests can see. They welcomed us, with a Rose wine, made with Syrah grapes. We wanted a quiet, rural place with good wine and I got that and more. They are passionate about making quality wines. I have stayed at Copacabana Palace, Ritz Carlton Miami, Peninsula Hotel NYC and many top hotels, and I would never compare places. I knew I was going to the country side of Portugal, where life is slow...Portugal is like my husband, amazing, yet simple in so many ways. We loved the fact that the property has 10 rooms, I think? It is super private. You feel like going back in time. The bed was fabulous, awesome size, great linen, good shower pressure, attention to details, the fresh rosemary touch was beyond creative, so sweet. I noticed the fabulous lights in the spacious seating room, the gazebo by the pond, was romantic and peaceful. It is definitely a place to disconnect, to look at people's eyes, hear the birds, observe the roses mingled with strawberries, or look at the several collard greens planted closer to the cilantro, or the hundreds Aragonez grapes planted like well trained soldiers. It is a beautiful experience. We love it. Thee owners care, and that is priceless!!

Very nice and small town located less than 2 hours by car East of Lisbon and with extremely friendly inhabitants. The historic part of the town (Mouraria) is very nice, with its cobbled, narrow streets. In the Summer, the Amieira Beach, on the banks of the Alqueva Lake (the biggest man-made lake in Europe) is well worth it. The beach is around 20 minutes drive from Moura. There are a dozen other beaches. There's also several boat companies offering all kind of shorts trips around the lake. Alentejo's main export are its wines. Go and visit a proper winery in the region.

Moura is a nice town with a superb municipal outdoor pool in the summer and not far from the praia fluvial which is excellent on the Alqueva. However, Sunday nights are difficult to find a meal and it was August!

nice typical town in Alentejo, animated with young people at night, beautiful sights, unforgettable boat tours on the biggest european artificial lake nearby (Alqueva dam: saw wild turtles and many birds, only surrounded by nature)

Stayed here for one night and wish we could have stayed longer. This is a wonderfully clean and comfortable house. It was really comfy beds and all the things you would need for a short stay. The location is perfect for exploring the streets of Moura and can walk to anywhere in the town from here. Would highly recommend.
