Old Kyle Farm, hotel in Kyleakin

Offering mountain views, Old Kyle Farm in Kyleakin offers accommodations and a garden. With free private parking, the property is 1.8 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh and 10 miles from Eilean Donan Castle....

We stayed in the barn section of the farmhouse and were very pleased! This attached unit was very clean, had kitchen appliances and a lovely, private place to stay. It is two story but I was pleasantly surprised to find a bathroom on each level (only one shower upstairs). The bed was comfy and the sofa bed was, well a sofa bed. There were extra pillows and they quickly provided extra blankets when asked. Unfortunately, the L shaped couch in the pics had been changed (no fault of the owners), so we had to make do… planning on using that in sleeping arrangements, but all survived. The views were fantastic from both upstairs and down. The owner was so helpful when our car got stuck in northern Skye! Suggested two towing companies right away and even suggested asking a local as they all pitch in. He was so correct!! People stopped to help and then a rollback with a car on it actually stopped and used a winch to pop us out, then kept going!! Wonderful experience all around!

Broadford Hotel, hotel in Kyleakin

Overlooking Bradford Bay, this luxury 4-star hotel is located in the village of Broadford on the Isle of Skye. Established in 1611, Broadford Hotel is the original home of Drambuie whiskey liqueur.

Right in the middle of the city with a great view! There was just a couch when we just entered the room and then another, separate room with the bed, table and bathroom. So, it was very convenient for our family of 4 to have some privacy.

The location was just for a stop over on our way to Falkirk. The bed had seen better days as the springs had gone and were very uncomfortable and noisy with little movement. The floorboards also were very noisy from upstairs and when moving around the room.

    Scenery was nice.

Scenery was nice. You definitely need a car as a lot of walking and also you are depending on transport, which is unreliable. No shops only the Coop. If you have no car you have to walk over two bridges and back to get food. A few restaurants.Didn’t realise how far the guest house from the station was. We walked it in bad weather and it took us nearly 40 mins. It was definitely an experience. It’s a day visit place or a base to drive to other places.

The shops do get overrun by tourists often so can be difficult to get basic needs when coachloads of people are trying to get trinkets and tatt. But the views from everywhere on this island are stunning, no matter where. Kyleakin is just the first of many on your journey round.

This is not a bnb, just a bunk house, very poor, no standards, room grubby very dated, all needs upgrading, would not recommend to anyone, breakfast was well cooked, but next door in a bikers cafe! No disrespect to bikers, we also have a bike. Staff at the cafe welcoming..but its just a hostel!

When we arrived, we found out that the hotel was closed and that our booking had been cancelled (I hadn't logged in to booking.com to read any messages). However, the owner, tried her best for us and after ringing around the other local places for us-all full, agreed to put us up for our stay of one night and arranged breakfast for us in the morning. Of the 3 places to eat in Kyleakin, we ate in Castle Moil as they were happy to accommodate us and our little dog and the food and atmosphere was enjoyable

The hosts were extremely warm and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. The living room and kitchen were well stocked and extremely comfortable and spacious with outstanding views of the isle of Skye. The bedroom was large and the funky bathroom with giant tub was a dream to relax in after a long day. We had a beautiful meal nearby at Saucy Mary’s.

The host had kept all the essentials in check. The place was stacked with butter, sauces, cleaned utensils, Coffee Machine with beans loaded, corn flakes and oats etc. The washing machine and dryer was in mint condition to use. The host allowed us for a late checkout at 12 as we were travelling with kids. The view was amazing of the new SKYE bridge.

The penny saving option on Skye, everything else is very expensive. Parking was plentiful and free. The check in and out staff were friendly. The room was large enough for us (we were 2 people in a 4 person room - 2 bunk beds). We had a private bathroom and shower which were 2 separate rooms, accessed with the room key.

This was a very expensive hotel. It seems to me the owners are cashing in on the fact they can charge any price for anything on Skye. I think for £168 they could have thrown in a coffee and a piece of toast for breakfast! Instead they charge an extortionate £14 for breakfast.
