Set in a historical townhouse in the center of Hasselt within an easy walking distance from the shopping streets and Market Square, the small-scale Hotel Het Menneke offers air-conditioned rooms, free... The hotel location is pretty central to the town center and walking from the train station was no problem and took about 15 mins. I arrived late afternoon when none of the staff were around. The hosts had anticipated this and contacted me in advance to arrange key collection details which were easy to follow and worked without any problem. The room was modern and spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed and nice shower room. Overlooking a main street, the room was surprisingly quiet. The hotel itself is quite small and is a converted town house ( make sure to check the folder it’s the pictures of the renovation project). I didn’t see any of the other guests until breakfast time as there are limited common areas. Breakfast itself was really first class with a nice combination of bought-in and home-made products. The owners, Elke and Bart, we’re super attentive and very friendly. I would really recommend this hotel for short stays as it is very good value for money. I would certainly stay there again.

We have been to this nice city on numerous occasions.
We have been to this nice city on numerous occasions. We like to shop the antic markets that they have there on the weekends. We also like the food and the people. There is something for everyone if not in the city then in the local area. History is in abundance here. Do take in the main church and the museum. There a a few really good restaurants in the main part of town and of course the Belgian beer is outstanding. But, the people make the trip worthwhile. That is the real reason we keep going back. The Limburg region has a lot of hiking trails also if you want to do do some scenic walking. You are also close to Maastricht which is about 17KMs away and would make a nice day trip from Tongeren. Stay at the Caelus Hotel in Tongeren. It's the best. The host is great.

The Jenever museum, the Japanese garden in spring, the fashion museum, just strolling through town and see the nice buildings and shops. Fantastic places to eat all over Hasselt. It is a small but very quaint town. Hasselt is also the capital of the Province of Belgian Limburg. The best way to see Hasselt is on foot and there is a little tourist train that will take you around to the Japanese garden and the little harbor of the Albert Canal! Have fun
