Set in Montana, 46 km from Kom Peak, Hotel complex Jitomir offers accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. It was one night stay while visiting the fortress in Belogradchik (thought Montana was a better and bigger town for my stay). The hotel is modern and spacious, the staff was kind and helpful with all my requests/questions. The breakfast is simple but enough and good. They also have parking space if you’re driving yourself and are conveniently located in the heart of the city - there is a supermarket walking distance, couple of options for restaurants, even money exchange nearby. Just don’t expect people to speak much English since it’s a much smaller town than Sofia.

I was in the area to visit the Buzludzha Monument, and this hotel is right at the top of Shipka Pass, which means it was right at the start of one of the two roads up to the monument. I was there between seasons, and the proprietor basically opened up just for me, had a nice room waiting with a heater, and made me a lovely bowl of soup. Looks like this place would be super fun during trekking season, with a bar restaurant and game room, huge wood burning stove and pool table. Great off the beaten track experience, would stay here again in a heartbeat.
