Set 2.5 mi from Queen Elizabeth Park, Lamanai Hotel & Marina features free WiFi access in public areas, barbecue and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or a drink at the bar. Good location near the road to Lamanai off of the Northern Highway. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Hot shower. Staff was helpful and responsive. We enjoyed drinks an appetizers at the restaurant/bar overlooking the water. Parking off the highway in a gated area.

Right on the river with great birding opportunities. The bar served a great virgin pina colada and made a terrific vegetable quesadilla which was the best I’ve had.

The air-conditioned accommodation is 30 miles from Altun Ha, and guests can benefit from on-site private parking and complimentary Wifi. The house was spacious with two separate bedrooms, a large living room with a couch and love seat, TV and a dining room table set for four. The kitchen had all of the amenities including a washer and dryer. But the best was an orange male iguana in the backyard. The lagoon and various restaurants and Kenn's market are within walking distance. Definitely off the beaten path for those that like the sounds of birds and an occasional howler monkey!

Everything! Michelle and Scott were fantastic and friendly. The pool and outdoor area was a fabulous place to relax and have a cooling swim before heading out for dinner. The bungalow itself was comfortable and had everything we needed.

Orange Walk - A vacation away from overcommercialization.
We didn't actually get into town at all. We arrived at the airport where the people from Lamanai Landing picked us up and took us directly to the hotel, which is out in the countryside. The only parts of Orange Walk we saw were the streets leading to the bus station as we were leaving. My general overall impression of the town was that it was the center of a very poor economic area, consequently, other than the trip to the ruins, probably did not have the potential for attracting tourism that other areas have. Lamanai Landing itself is a lovely facility with friendly, knowledgeable management and staff. It is clean and well maintained and has effective WiFi. We ate only at the hotel. Its biggest disadvantage is that it does not have some of the more recent conveniences, like an ATM machine, regular shuttle service (probably does not get enough traffic to warrant one), desk specializing whatever attractions ARE available (if any) and arranging tours or appointments to visit them, etc. For instance, it seems bird-watching trips on the river might be a viable attraction for a certain type of visitors. There is nothing I would really avoid since at this point in time I did not have the opportunity to experience much in the immediate confines of Orange Walk and vicinity.

Orange walk is a fertile area of Belize.
Orange walk is a fertile area of Belize. The shopping is very inexpensive here. We ate at Lees Chinese Restaurant it was excellent. Bananas were 10 for a Bz $. Reyes and Sons do trips down the river to Laminae it is better to book directly with them. Our guide was amazing, he showed us many birds on the way down the river and told us about their habits. He was warm and friendly with a pleasant voice.
