The stand alone suite/cabins are brand new, beautifully designed, very spacious. Grounds are nice, amazing views to the ocean, lots of birds, a lookout tower, pool, restaurant for an excellent optional breakfast. Really reasonable prices. For dinner the Cerro Lodge is very close. Birds right outside my door.

Rancho Capulin B&B features accommodation closer to Tárcoles. The property has an outdoor swimming pool, as well as a garden. Both free WiFi and private parking are available on site. We felt so welcome. Breakfast was great, with stunning views over the Pacific. Room is well decorated with style, comfortable and the view is just fantastic!

Macaw lodge is such a magical place. Beautiful setting, horiculturally interesting, and part of an important wildlife corridor. We saw so many different birds and animals. The highlight was our birding tour with Hugo, who is very knowledgeable about the area. We also loved sitting in the main lodge watching birds gather around the small pond. The food was fabulous, much of it locally sourced. We especially loved the fresh squeezed juice at every meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The staff produce good and substantial meals and are always ready with any help required. 5 star hotel in a 5 star resort it is not but if you enjoy Costa Rican birds and wildlife together with a trip to the Pacific cost then don’t bypass Tarcoles and The House of Macaws
