Located in San Gerardo de Dota, 7.8 miles from Cerro de la Muerte, Las Cataratas Lodge has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. I have been traveling Costa Rica for nearly two weeks now, staying at Bed and Breakfasts and cabins across the country. This location has been my absolute favorite, by far. The cabins are basic, but they bring a close comfort to you. I felt incredibly relaxed and was fully able to enjoy their quiet. Surrounding the cabin are a couple of hiking trails and a few small gazebos. You could hike to a couple of waterfalls or settle into and watch the constant comings-and-goings of the hummingbirds. The breakfasts were the best I've had in my travels so far. The dinner was also delicious. I found this spot a wonderful quiet oasis to connect with the wonderful flora and fauna surrounding me. I can't recommend it enough.

The walks located on the property are beautiful with amazing lush flora. Lake is quaint and you can take a rowboat onto it. Staff can help arrange a quetzal tour. the included breakfast was really good!

Laura was an amazing host. The food was wonderful and fresh and she connected us with an outstanding guide. Michael took us to a local farm that participates in a quetzal population restoration project. We saw at least six quetzals.

Offering garden views, Las Bromelias Lodge in Paso Macho offers accommodations and a garden. Beautiful location, plenty of space to sleep, relax, have meals plus great views. Very helpful staff that visited the house while we were away and prepared fireplace for us after we used wood the day before. Perfect location to explore Savegre forest and this area. In the cottage we found a contact to very good, profesional birdwatching guide.
