Offering elegant rooms and golf breaks in picturesque Dumfries and Galloway, this 19th-century house is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Powfoot hotel is absolutely lovely! The atmosphere was warm and inviting and we immediately felt at home. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and the food in the restaurant was divine! The location right on the beach is fantastic too. The rooms are the cleanest I've ever stayed in and it felt like the bathroom was brand new! We loved absolutely everything about our stay and we want to come back soon!

The location was amazing - right on the seafront. Our room had a beautiful view of the bay so that even if the weather was poor we would still have the experience. Food was wonderful and the staff and locals were so friendly to us and our doggie. Lovely sitooterie outside the hotel. We will be back!

Originally an 18th century mansion, Cally Palace is now a sophisticated golf hotel just 48 minutes’ drive from the market town of Dumfries. Absolutely fabulous location. Beautiful rooms. Exceptional service. Big comfy bed, well stocked bathroom. Swimming pool was excellent, there is also a gym, sauna and spa pool. High quality. Really reasonable price. The food was really delicious and high quality.

The hotel is perfectly situated for access the the forrest park and (although we were not mountain biking this time) close to Kirroughtree bike park. The restaurant food was perfect for two ravenous cyclists; tasty and good value and serve good beer. I thought the accommodation was particularly good value. They also have a safe place to store bikes which was also perfect for us.

This is a bright little hotel, recently refurbished, comfortable and perfectly located to explore Dumfries and Galloway. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room had a modern shower (hot) with separate toilet and a comfortable bed. Food was very good- We had lamb shank with red wine jus and fresh haddock and chips for dinner and breakfast of full Scottish- excellent quality a well cooked.

We loved our stay , the fire in the lobby is very cozy and we really enjoyed the ambiance there for a drink in the evening. Our room was lovely and comfortable, we were travelling with a small baby and were given an extra heater to heat up the room as it was an extremely cold day. Breakfast was delicious and everything was perfectly cooked The location and grounds are stunning- located right on the river and there was an abundance of wildlife we saw oyster catchers , red kites , guinea fowl and others. The hotel is beautiful and our daughter thought it was a princess castle. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come stay again.

We loved everything about it. The toilet was noisy for a long time after flushing but everything else was lovely. The gardens, the walks out the front door, the quietness, the stunning views from our patio. We loved the walk up by the golf course and if we had another day would have explored those hikes more. The staff was veryfriendly and professional. It was a real treat to end our 2 week journey to Northern Ireland. We didn't want to drive home after taking the ferry so we stayed here instead. We were pleasantly surprised with the fabulous hotel and views. The array of Scotch whiskeys in the bar was a great idea and we partook in a few of those for after dinner. The Hendricks gin was also very good. It's just a very classy place.

What an amazing house! Everything was perfect. The four bedrooms were comfortable and suited our group to a T. Having the front Living Room separate was good so that the kids could be watching TV away from the adults. Tracey was in contact with us and all instructions were very clear. The kids love the trampoline and were very disappointed that we had absolutely no time to go in the Jacuzzi. They said they’d come back to Gretna just to stay in that house!
